KAUPAPA: Te kēmu kupu reo Māori! / The reo Māori word game!
Learn te reo Māori through play! KAUPAPA is a word description board game for speakers and learners of te reo Māori.
KAUPAPA is a companion to any learner’s journey – beginners can use it to learn new words, and fluent speakers can thrive in a fast-paced, playful immersion environment.
KAUPAPA is a word description game, and there are two main mechanics: Describing words from a single category against the clock (similar to Articulate/Taboo/Charades), and ‘Māui’ cards which operate like ‘chance’ cards. ‘Māui cards reference pūrākau / traditional narratives, atua Māori and whakataukī / proverbs which change the gameplay and spice things up.
This game is recommended for ages 8 years + (in short – if you can read in English or te reo, you can play.)
This game is recommended for 2-12 players (although there’s not really an upper limit to how many can play at once)
