About the Author

In 1957 Murdoch Riley started a recording company recording Tahitian, Samoan, Fijian and Māori music.

After amalgamating the recording company with a publishing business he went on to write.

Murdoch has written a number of books dealing with New Zealand flora and fauna, as well as Māori lore.

The most significant, was Māori Healing and Herbal published in 1994, which was awarded Second Prize in the 1995 Montana Book Awards.

At 93 Murdoch still works in his business and writes in Raumati Beach.
