Professor Atholl Anderson (Kai Tahu) A distinguished scholar of national and international standing, he is noted for his work in the Pacific and Indian Oceans and is a prize-winning historian of the Māori past and Kāi Tahu tribal and post-contact history.

Judith Binney (1940-2011) was born in Australia in 1940 and educated at Auckland University, where she became Emeritus Professor of History. She was the author of numerous books of New Zealand history, many with a focus on Māori individuals and communities.
Dr Aroha Harris (Te Rarawa, Ngāpuhi) is a senior lecturer in history at the University of Auckland. She has considerable experience in both historical and social research, having worked for government agencies, private companies and iwi, and she was a founding member of Te Pouhere Kōrero, the Māori Historians Network. Her research interests focus on Māori in the twentieth century, particularly since World War II. She has been published as a creative writer, as an academic and as a researcher.
